The Chinese research team for the EU Horizon Europe project AIOLIA, are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the “AI Ethics Value Co-creation from a Multi-Stakeholders Perspective” national workshop on September 20th, 2025 in Nanning. Held during the China-ASEAN Expo, this event was guided by the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development (CASTED), and strongly supported by co-organizers, the China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Cooperative Innovation Center (CAAIC) Research Institute and Guangxi University of Science and Technology (GXUST). The Chinese research team brought together experts from government, industry, academia, and research to contribute knowledge toward the sustainable development and international cooperation of Artificial Intelligence.
As part of the project’s research, Chinese research team is dedicated to transforming abstract AI ethics principles into operational practices. At this workshop, Chinese research team highlighted the core use case study: the “Datou Aliang” smart elderly care system. This system utilizes AI robots to perform functions like automated room inspections and fall detection in elderly care settings, strictly adhering to ethical principles such as data minimization and user privacy protection in its practice. It stands as a concrete example of our exploration of “Tech for Good.”
Through in-depth discussions, the attending experts reached a consensus that effective AI ethics governance must be a “co-creation” system that incorporates multi-stakeholders, including government regulators and industry associations, and prioritizes ethical considerations before technological development.
Chinese research team believes the success of this workshop has not only deepened the theoretical and practical understanding of AI ethics for all parties but has also laid a solid foundation for future collaboration cross cultures in AI ethics research, standard-setting, and industrial cooperation.
