The AIOLIA team at McGill University is working on a research project on griefbots. The Jarislowsky Chair in Human Nature and Technology and the Lin Centre at McGill University had the great fortune of hosting prof Michael Cholbi<\/strong><\/a> on December 4 and 5. Michael gave a lecture entitled \u201cGrief and Memory in Radically Extended Lives\u201d on the 4th. On the following day, we held a workshop on AI and the philosophy of grief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On November 11-12, the Periscope Research Lab of the University of Toronto and the Jarislowsky Chair in Human Nature and Technology of McGill University held an interdisciplinary workshop on the ethics of griefbots and the digital afterlife. Participants included Hugo Cossette-Lefebvre, Ph.D (Philosophy, McGill University), Yiran Hua, Ph.D. (Centre for Ethics, UofT), and professors Jenny Lau (Institute of Medical Science, UofT), Anna Su (Faculty of Law, UofT), Daniel Buchman (Calla Lana School of Public health, UofT), and Karina Vold (Philosophy, UofT). The workshop was a collaboration between Periscope Lab, the Jarislowsky Chair, the Center for Ethics of the University of Toronto, and the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
